The Role of Nationalism in the Modern World System
A constant theme throughout all the essays was in approach or just a focus on nationalism and how nationalism might be conceived using Wallerstein's frameworks. Nationalism is truly part of the modern world system and it is probably an expression of the ambition to upgrade one's own position in the world system if you are not from the core. There is an anti-core nationalism, especially in the Chinese case, I would say that there is still this story of China has been a victim of imperialism so deserves more access to great power statues, natural resources, political influence, etc,. etc., etc.
