The Risk of AI Putting People Out of Work
Automation and technology tend to replace skills more than they replace jobs. The fewer unique skills that a worker uses in their role, the more they're at risk of being replaced. But even if just some of their skills are replaced, increasing their productivity is likely to at least temporarily reduce overall employment. AI can be thought of as another advance in automation, but this time it's coming after different types of jobs than automation came after in the past.
