Hotdesking is where you're not assigned a particular place to sit in any given day. At the start of each day, you must go and find a new place along with your laptop. A lot of employees no longer work full-time so companies don't provide a full-time desk. It's been estimated that it takes 18 minutes per day for the average hot-desking employee to find somewhere to sit. That adds up to 66 hours a year.
As at the founding of the People’s Republic, the 70th anniversary featured a tightly controlled parade bristling with the country’s latest military kit. That marks a sharp contrast to the growing chaos in Hong Kong, where a protest spirit has sparked new art, and an impromptu anthem. And, we ask if hot-desking costs employees more than companies are saving.
