Is There an Alternative to the Statute of Limitations?
The last payment or the last plausible time where this crime was was being committed, I think people generally agree was more than five years ago. New York state has a provision that tolls the statute of limitations for all those days on which a defendant was continuously out of New York. Trump will complain about it. He's going to fight every possible legal theory he can. But at the end of the day, the statute seems pretty clear that the time gets told when a person lives out of the state. So I think it's going to be okay.
