Anance and the Spider Tales

Anancy was a symbol of hope and rebellion during the slave trade. Many spider tales see anancy overcoming impossible odds, outwitting individuals who were much more powerful than himself. During this period, they would have to display qualities similar to anancy if they wished to overcome their oppressors. One story used to hilit this is the story of the lion and the tiger.
