Gabriel Daniel was a French Jesuit historian. He wrote about the world of Cartesius and how he met him in an astral projection. The book is basically saying that anyone that claims to be a Cartesian at this point is not an actual Cartesian. And also it's based on what he says isthis old man that he met when he was adventuring around the countryside.
