Shicantasa - The Middle Way of Being With
Zazen is excellent practice for learning to be with because we don't attempt to shut our minds off from what's happening around or within us. The buddha never said that this moment would never be painful, but there's a way to experience even pain without entirely losing our sense of perspective. It's not easy, but when we can do this, it greatly improves the quality of our life and allows us to keep our hearts and minds open to the suffering of others.
