How to Avoid Referrals in Recruiting
If you pass the first round, they're actually probably going to invite you to come back in six to 12 to 24 months. And so at that point, the relationship doesn't actually have any weight. Everything else is just your resume without a referral. There's no other way to stand out. If you show up with an odd resume and you ask somebody for a referral, they're going to tell you go fix your resume. They could have just given you a referral if you had a great resume in the first place.
