The Importance of Liberal Universalism
Israeli is the one who, again, because he was a gambler, actually takes the biggest gamble of the law. In 1867, to give the vote to the ordinary working man. But what 1832 does is to produce an upper class educated electorate that leads to a permanent liberal majority. And whereas it is Israeli who takes the Boris Johnson gamble. He takes the gamble. And I, it is the right gamble. The British working man was patriotic, was, dare one say, also jingoistic. And of course he rides that and rides it with spectacular success.
