Is the Past Beyond Our Control?

I think it's a really cool case because it forces us to think through this deeper issue of, why is the past fixed? Why is the past beyond our control? What's generating the past's fixity? For a number of years, people thought about the past as having a certain modal status lately, distinct from the future. And so i think it really pushes on those kinds of intuitions to figure out where our own views lie. A, but i my response comes in two stages. The first stage is point out that if we really take the intuition seriously, that she has to give your younger self the time mission, that she's not free to do otherwise.
