The Bachelor and the Bachelorette: A New Normal
For years, the lead bachelor on "The Bachelorette" would only say he or she loved the person they chose at the end. That norm was blown up a few years ago when Ben Higgins said: I love you to the top two candidates. In every subsequent season of the show, the lead has followed this new norm and said 'I love you to more than one person' The most recent two bachelors ended up changing their minds after proposing to one woman and then saying, actually, I want to be with another woman.
