Edward Alexander Croley's Life Story

Crowley was educated in private schools, most of them affiliated either with the plymouth brethren or with other evangelical sects. He also experienced chronic illnesses, including asthma, that sometimes kept him from being able to attend school. In 18 95, croley changed his name from edward alexander to allister at about this time. This change probably had a couple of rations. One was percy bs shelley's poem alistor, or the spirit of solitude. And the other was the gaelic version of the name alexander, although that is usually spelled a l a s d a i r, not a l e i s t e r.
