The Importance of Pronunciation in English

Vowel changes depending on if the word is singular or plural. Be very careful with the pronunciation of women because although the first syllable doesn't change as regards spelling W-O-M, the pronunciation changes. Some words change substantially rather a lot when they become plural. For example, everybody probably knows the word mouse but do you remember that the plural of mouse is? One mouse, two mice. There's a mouse in the house and there are mice in the house. Get it right. It's a very important word.
