For the first time yellow fever spread widely among the Lazarota staff and among neighbors who lived nearby. This had never happened before and was absolutely terrifying. The Board of Health did go out of their way to pay tribute to Eve Coogler, who was in part responsible for cooking meals at the facility. But then there's another woman who comes on the scene in a surprising way: Mary Riddle came to visit her and help take care of her.
