Is Nebulizer Magnesium a Second Line Treatment?
There is absolutely categorically no evidence that nebulizer magnesium has the same improvements unfortunately. The mortality rate for patients needing NIV in exacerbations of COPD is pretty scarily high at 25 to 30% so that is a lot higher actually than I thought it was before we started going through this. So again aminophilin is going to be a second line treatment much in the same way that I guess we'd probably give magnesium in these patients although you know particularly with regard to the aminophILin it is different in its safety profile.
