More than a quarter of churches are actively involved in some succession planning. Why is it that pastors are hesitant, even though a quarter might be actively involved? For many church leaders who have been in ministry for decades, the title pastor can really become part of their identity. The second reason is it's just uncomfortable. Succession in churches is different than in the marketplace where it's common for CEOs to have this conversation.
