The Argument for Term Limits
I've often wondered if fundamentally underlying the reason why people say there should be term limits has to do with a completely different problem that Alexander Hamilton actually wrote about since you mentioned the founding fathers. He was concerned that he was starting to see people who were running for Congress, that weren't there out of a self sacrificial nature and wanted to enrich themselves. I sometimes wonder whether the conversation about term limits isn't more around the idea of if we can't trust people to be self sacrificial in the way that they represent us.
