The Importance of Y in English
The consonant letter Y invaded England with the Normans and then eliminated multiple existing English letters. In some other languages, like German, they do a whole nother way of referencing this. The German name for the letter Y is Oopsilon. It's just exactly a German sounding way of saying up salon.
