The Evolution of Error in Science
Aristotle thought science was basically just go out and look at things and taxonomize. Science becomes more about manipulation and what you can do with your descriptions, but also taking things out of their natural habitat and actually inventing the laboratory. So I would say that the more experimental sciences just kind of give us a better way of reducing error.
