People may somewhat overreact, both like perceptually and physiologically, to negative information about their genes. One of the genes that 23andMe looks at is your ACTN3 gene. It codes for a protein that essentially affects shortening velocity of fast switch fibers. Knowing about that one gene locus only tells you about four and a half percent of that strength power genotype. That's telling you about one out of 22 genes that may make a difference.
