The students at univer cities tended to be t nagers. They might matriculate anywhere from age 12 to their twenties, or sometimes thirties. And if we look back at the way people wrote and commented on the earliest universities in the 12 hundreds, the picture doesn't seem to have been pretty - at least not in te lot of people's eyes.
