The Golden Age - A Great Cross Fermentation of Ideas
For a whole century there was an islamic dynasty, thet omaids, where scholarship didn't really flourish. The abasidse were very much influenced by persian culture. And so they became obsessed with texts and books. They realized there wer all these great texts from from greece, from india, from persia, a that they wanted to translate into arabic. That kick started an obsession with learning and obsession with scholarship.
