The Bombay Plan: A Revolutionary Perspective
Anukam: The idea was that these eight industrial houses, belonging to Indian business houses, needed protection from foreign competition. They asked for heavy government patronage in various ways which would, of course, help them such as better infrastructure and so on. All of this was complimented by saying we should have a welfare state, said Anukam. There was also things like, I mean, they made a point for deficit financing because they understood the government of India would not have a lot of revenue.
