The Radicals of the Darmstadt Music Movement
Renee Libowitz was a Paris-based composer who savaged the music of Sebelius in an article called, quote, Sebelius the worst composer in the world. Darmstadt began being seen as the place to be for the most progressive music on the planet. Schoenberg did not like the rigidity of his new disciples and admitted that he embraced the total rejection of tonality in his early atonal works.
