Can You Change the Tone to Fourth Tone in a Noun?

In French, we know what's really going on is the loss of final consonants. And it's really easy to make that in a conlang using historical derivation sort of tactics because of that. There are places where you can have tone changes or different super-signal features changing. But I don't know if that's currently productive. It may be like some weird thing that happened in old Chinese or middle Chinese that's like got a ghost in the current time or something.
