The Lysander's and the SOE

Lysander's, affectionately known as grasshoppers, can land and take off without a runway. They are perfect for dropping off agents at remote locations for work with the French resistance. These missions can only take place under exactly the right conditions: dark enough to evade detection by the Luftwaffe; light enough to enable landing on rough terrain. Getting the balance wrong has been fatal.
