Are Experts the People Who Should Decide?
I think there'll be big changes in American life that come out of this and one of them will be about social insurance and risk, risk sharing. How much money do we want to spend to provide surge capacity in our health system in case we have another epidemic is another complicated cost benefit trade off. It's expensive to keep some of that capacity around. But boy you know be nice if we had more hospital beds in New York City today. What's the role of expertise in making these kinds of fundamental evaluations?
