The Task of the Translator
When you are slating a book of poetry, you are ultimately translating a work of art. When you translate a great novel, that is art. Even when you're translating a non fiction, was the author not poetically or artistically trying to weave together ideas into a tapestry? No poem is intended for the reader. No picture for the beholder. No symphony for the listener.
