Reading Biblical Narratives

Faith Improvised

CHAPTER

The Role of Biblical Narratives in Understanding the World

When reading biblical narratives, Old Testament and new, what they are doing is they're creating these narrative worlds. And so that narrator is commending to audiences a vision of the world as portrayed through how David sees it. I realize that a lot of Christian people get tripped up because we're sort of trained to read our Bibles looking for quote unquote biblical truth which we imagine comes in the form of like truths or propositions Or things that we can confess. What narrators are doing is trying to get us to see reality ourselves, God, Jesus, what it means to be the people of God from a new perspective.
