The Importance of Experience in Systems Administration
Hacking things together just so they work to get them out on time is a lot of the job. You know, in systems administration, there's this interesting phenomenon when a new person's coming up in the industry and maybe they've joined only a year or two ago. They will see a lot of odd practices that seem like either they are doing it the wrong way or it's not a best practice. That doesn't really to me indicate inexperience or experience. It's always a series of trying to figure out how to hack it together.
