She exemplified Britishness in a way that was not left-wing or right-wing, not conservative or liberal. One of the reasons for her enduring popularity was because she didn't get involved in political fights. She lived through the war as a very visible symbol. And we are trying to to bear our own share of the danger and sadness of war. We know every one of us, that in the end all will be well, for God will care for us and give us victory and peace.
