Carisal fungi wrap themselves around or even intertwined into the roots, and basically extend the root network. They go further out to access nutrients for the tree that the tree itself would not be able to reach via its own root structure. And I think the basis of this is that the plants are getting something out of it, right? The nutrients and the water, but that it's this reciprocal exchange.
