The Demand for Love Is the Origin of Desire
What's left of demand after need has been met is a demand for love. What happens along the way is that the demand for love gets twisted by desire into a desire for recognition, a desire for approval and validation. We don't know quite yet how that happens, but this is the structure of desire. It does start to give us an answer to one of the questions that graph two raises on page 684.
