What's the Story of the Jet Engine?

I think it's interesting that, you know, what you say about engineering didn't get written down. I mean, the science, the abstract science, people wrote books about it, and the books were passed down. The same thing's happening with softer engineering. There isn't a lot of literature on those kinds of things. But i think there are also cases where the science has preceded the technology. In order to do the technology, you need a certain amount of science.
