The Importance of Art in the Enlightenment
In the 18th century it would have been quite difficult to get here, you would have had to come by carriage or on foot there was obviously no railway. John Sone referred this as a religious light mausoleum which is curated by these yellow panes of grass and shapes on the walls. The decision to light the galleries from above was in itself revolutionary because it literally illuminated the pictures but also allowed the full height of the building to be used for the painting of paintings. Because they're being lit from overhead from a very early time light shapes the times when you can access the building so you can only access the building to view the paintings in daylight hours.
