The Coanqo Native Dress - Is That True?
The photo of thomas morqesi was taken at a residential school in 1888. He is seen dressed up to look savage, but on the other side we just see what itis supposed to be. It reflects this idea that the cota po indian was either uncivilized and wild, or was civilized and assimilated. The church wrote that thomas already knew the english alphabet and that he was a protestant. There's a good probability that those before photos were not his clothes. But we can't say that for certain.
