Is Putin So Back Into a Corner That He Doesn't Care?
Putin has been more careful indeed than in word about escalation involving the West. He knows very well that any actual nuclear escalation as opposed to talk of it is a big shining red line for Western governments, including the United States. I don't think Putin is backed into a corner enough just yet to use a nuclear weapon, but that's not to say that he won't get there.
