Caesina's Defection to Vespasian

Antonius arrived in Italy with his advance guard in October and was created by a much stronger force led by Caesina. Deeply unhappy with his position, Caesina marched north at the head of the Vetelian legions thinking deeply not about battle plans, but whether or not he should defect to Vespasian. The two sides would meet in one of the rarest sights in the ancient world, a night battle. At the second battle of Badriacum, the Vetelians were finally defeated not by force, but by a completely harmless religious ritual.
