The Importance of Law

Just because something is codified into the law, all that means is that someone passed a law. The law is more about this emergent thing that we all agree to abide by. Just because it's codified in legislation doesn't necessarily make it the law. I think it's a great thing that especially recently, societies come to the understanding that there are a lot of laws that are on the books that might not be good for society and we're taking a hard look at that. We should have done a lot of this a long time ago.
