The Psychoanalytic Approach to Melancholia
I feel like I have been working with the urgency so much to not be driven by the urgency, but to also not look away from the urgency or the anxiety that it produces. Or live also from that place. It seems to me that the psychoanalytic doctrines of mourning, as opposed to melancholia, are very helpful here. So is to find those ways of living well as earthlings in a thick present, but without the fantasy that denies wounding and denies our complicity in it.
