The biggest concern there is some of these controllers that aren't meant to be used as a plane. H b a, if you just attach a drive and don't create a raid out of it, it just won't show up to the o s. It's just an unassigned drive, and you can't acis it. But especially for a home system or a learning system, you're totally fine to just go ahead and do it that way.
