I think that where David's fiction is strongest and weakest is sort of still along the seams of that original somewhat technical intelligence. I believe one reason that David through much of his time had trouble with issues like plagiarism most famously when he's working on the story collection girl with curious hair. One young woman described the way that they studied fiction together as being like reverse engineering the stories.
