The Longevity Quotient

A dog has a longevity quotient of one. It's an average mammal lives about as long as we think it should live for its body size. A small bat, which weighs less than two nickels can live 30 or 40 years in the wild. That's about 10 times as long as an animal of that size should live. The other thing about bats is that they're really good at dealing with immobility.
