Unemployment in the UK is currently at 6.6%, according to a report published this week by The Institute of Fiscal Studies (IFS) In two thousand and eight, unemployment was just under 8%. But today's figures suggest that it could be as high as 9% or even 10%. FTSE 100 shares are up 0.5%; DAX down 1; CAC 40 down 2%.
