The Benefits of Goal-Directed Therapy
A Cochrane review in 2012 found that using a goal-directed therapy approach reduced mortality in hospital length of stay. Looking at vitals is one way, but again, we talked about how that may not be accurate. What you want to do instead is address the vasodilation. Use pressers, use phenolefron, use levofed. It will prevent you from using a whole lot of fluid to try to correct that hypotension and your patient will do better.
