Tony Rubenstein and the Real Networks Mafia

Apple co-founder Tony Fadell started a company called Fuse Systems in 1999. He wanted to build hardware to play MP3s, but he wasn't thinking about portable iPod-style hardware. John Rubenstein from Apple was the SVP of Hardware at that time and knew how to do it. The two worked together for six weeks on what would become the most important thing in Apple's history: an iPod styrofoam model.
