Is Co-Arctation of the Aorta a Secondary Cause of Hypertension?

Co-arctation of the aorta is around 7% of patients with CHD, which correlates to about 1 in 2500 live births. Bicuspid aortic valve is probably the most common associated lesion and occurs in around 2 thirds of patients. The majority of patients will present an infancy with varying degrees of heart failure.
