People often don't like to be challenged if they're set in their ways they really don't want to hear it. The most over confident people in the world aren't well positioned to realize their own over confidence except if they realize those feelings of defensiveness so that's just a good gut check. If you feel enraged by what someone's trying to teach you when you're working with this guy might be a good prompt to say hey maybe check your ego at the door.
