The World Values Survey suggests a significant decline in confidence in democracy and democratic institutions. For those born in the 1980s, the proportion of people who believed it was essential to live in a democracy is less than 50%. In Germany, from time to time when there's a lot of protests against government, the F-dirt does quite well.
