The Fall of Skel

Skel was a mighty spirit whose realm was a clameth marsh region. Lau was the chief spirit who occupied the mystic land today's Crater Lake under his control where many lesser spirits could change their forms at will. A fierce war occurred between Skel and Lau and their followers was raged for a long time. Finally Skel was stricken down in his own land of Yamsi and his heart was torn from his body and carried in triumph to Lau's mountain. So that remains today as Wizard Island, a big volcanic cinder cone at the top of Crater Lake. Some cultures once viewed volcanoes as gods themselves.
